COURAGE, CONFIDENCE & CONNECTIONS

 

    With this being my first blog on my site here, I want to tell you a little about the name of my blog site. 

     Over the years having grown up as a preachers kid in the south, moving was the norm for us. There was little  opportunity to develop permanent friendships that would carry through to adulthood with rare exception. Moves were every 1 to 4 years and multiple schools had us always starting over and being the "new kid". 

     I never grew accustomed to moving or adapting to finding friends even though I always made friends easily. It became easy to pretend. I don't recall feeling lonely but I do recall not wanting to be in the spotlight. So many consider me an extrovert, when in reality, I love my alone time and pulling away from the crowd to regroup.

      Making connections comes easy for me as many who know me would tell you. On the other hand, Courage and Confidence did not. How can you become more confident and step out in courage? In future blogs, I will share more of my stories and my heart to give you some ideas. 

     This is a personal blog and not a business blog (I already have one of those) but all areas of your life merge together and affect one another. More to come...

  SECURITY     Today I’d like to share a sweet story about me. I’ve mentioned before about growing up as a preachers kid (otherwise known as a PK), There were four of us but at this time in my life, it was me and my older brother.      We moved around quite a bit while I was growing up. I was born in a town in North Carolina called Kinston. It’s in the more eastern part of the state and wasn’t that big at that time. Since I was only a baby, I believe we moved when I was 2 years old to a quaint little town by the name of Littleton, no joke. It’s in the north eastern part of the state.        My older brother is 14 months ahead of me. Mom said he used to tease me and pinch me. Sibling thing I imagine. STILLNESS     As I pondered today what to write, I was not sure what to say to you. What would speak the loudest or have the most impact. We are all in different places in our lives and what one thing could I say that would have meaning?      I sat out on my screened in porch and observed the birds flying to and fro, zooming around, gracefully sailing through the air, landing for a moment on a branch in a nearby tree; next minute, on the ground looking for something to eat. I love the birds, the sounds, observing their flight. As I sit and write this, I can hear a dove cooing in the distance on a spectacular sunny day with a slight breeze.      I came up with nothing.
